So the Israelites sent Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, to the land of Gilead— to Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

The Israelites sent Phinehas the priest to the land of Gilead. Phinehas was the son of Eleazar. They sent him to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh.

Then the people of Israel sent to the people of Reuben and the people of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,

First, however, they sent a delegation led by Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, to talk with the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

亚伦祭司的孙子，以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，就从会众中起来，手里拿着枪，

亚伦的儿子以利亚撒娶了普铁的一个女儿为妻，她为他生了非尼哈。这是利未人按着家族的族长。

那时，非尼哈起而干预，瘟疫这才止息。那就算他为义，世世代代，直到永远。

那时，亚伦的孙子，以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈侍立在约柜前。他们说：“我可以再出去与我弟兄便雅悯人打仗吗？还是停战呢？”耶和华说：“你们可以上去，因为明日我必把他交在你手中。”

“若是你的弟兄得罪你，你要去，趁着只有他和你在一起的时候，指出他的错来。他若听你，你就赢得了你的弟兄；

“亚伦祭司的孙子，以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，使我的愤怒转离以色列人，因为在他们中间，他以我的妒忌为他的妒忌，使我不在妒忌中毁灭以色列人。因此，你要说：‘看哪，我将我平安的约赐给他。这是他和他的后裔永远当祭司职任的约，因他为了上帝而妒忌，他为以色列人赎罪。’”

以色列众支派派人去，问便雅悯支派的各家说：“你们中间怎么做了这样的恶事呢？

计谋凭筹算立定，打仗要凭智谋。

要与邻舍争辩你的案情，不可泄漏他人的隐密，恐怕听见的人责骂你，你就难以摆脱臭名。一句话说得合宜，就如金苹果在银网子里。智慧人的劝戒在顺从的人耳中，好像金环和金首饰。忠信的使者对那差他的人，就如收割时有冰雪的凉气，使主人的心舒畅。

你就要调查，探听，细心询问。看哪，是真的，确实有这可憎的事在你中间发生，
