So the Israelites sent Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, to the land of Gilead— to Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

The Israelites sent Phinehas the priest to the land of Gilead. Phinehas was the son of Eleazar. They sent him to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh.

Then the people of Israel sent to the people of Reuben and the people of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,

First, however, they sent a delegation led by Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, to talk with the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

直到非尼哈起来惩罚罪人，瘟疫才停止。这就是他的义行，世代永存。

“如果你的弟兄得罪了你，你要找个机会跟他单独在一起，指出他的错处。如果他肯接受劝告，你就得了一位弟兄。

“亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈消了我对以色列人的怒气。因为在会众中他与我一样痛恨不贞，我才没有在烈怒中消灭他们。你告诉他，我要赐给他平安的约，使他和他的后代凭此约可以永远做祭司，因为他为我除掉了不贞之人，为以色列人赎了罪。”

他们派人去对便雅悯各地的人说：“你们中间怎么发生了这种邪恶的事！

集思出良策，征战靠智谋。

遇到跟邻舍争讼，不可泄露其秘密，免得听见的人辱骂你，你的恶名将永难洗刷。一句话说得合宜，就像金苹果放在银器里。对受教者而言，智者的责备犹如金耳环和金饰物。忠信的使者叫主人心里舒畅，就像夏收之时有冰雪的凉气。
