When they came to Geliloth near the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh built an imposing altar there by the Jordan.

The tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh came to Geliloth. It was near the Jordan River in the land of Canaan. They built a large altar there by the Jordan.

And when they came to the region of the Jordan that is in the land of Canaan, the people of Reuben and the people of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, an altar of imposing size.

But while they were still in Canaan, and when they came to a place called Geliloth near the Jordan River, the men of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh stopped to build a large and imposing altar.

When they came to the region of the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh built a large, impressive altar there by the Jordan.

因为耶和华以约旦河作我们和你们吕便人、迦得人的交界，所以你们在耶和华里无份。’这样，你们的子孙就使我们的子孙不再敬畏耶和华了。因此我们说：‘不如为自己筑一座坛，不是为献燔祭，也不是为献别样的祭，而是为你我之间和后代子孙之间作证据，好使我们也在耶和华面前献我们的燔祭、平安祭和别样的祭来事奉他，免得你们的子孙将来对我们的子孙说，你们在耶和华里无份。’所以我们说：‘将来他们若对我们，或对我们的子孙这样说，我们就可以回答说：你们看，我们列祖所筑的坛是耶和华坛的样式，这并不是为献燔祭，也不是为献别样的祭，而是作为你们和我们之间的证据。’

对弟兄们说：“大家来堆积石头。”他们拿石头堆成一堆，于是在那里，在石堆旁边吃喝。拉班称那石堆为伊迦尔‧撒哈杜他，雅各却称那石堆为迦累得。拉班说：“今日这石堆成为你我之间的证据。”因此这地方名叫迦累得，又叫米斯巴，因为他说：“我们彼此离别以后，愿耶和华在你我中间鉴察。你若苦待我的女儿，或在我的女儿以外另娶妻，虽没有人在场，你看，有上帝在你我中间作证。”拉班又对雅各说：“看哪，这石堆，看哪，这柱子，是我在你我中间所立的。这石堆是证据，这柱子也是证据。我必不越过这石堆去害你；你也不可越过这石堆和柱子来害我。

约书亚对他们说：“你们要过去，到约旦河中，耶和华—你们上帝的约柜前面，按以色列人支派的数目，每人各取一块石头扛在肩上。这些石头在你们中间将成为记号。日后，你们的子孙问你们说：‘这些石头对你们有什么意思呢？’你们就对他们说：‘这是因为约旦河的水在耶和华的约柜前中断；约柜过约旦河的时候，约旦河的水就中断了。这些石头要作以色列人永远的纪念。’”以色列人就照约书亚所吩咐的做了。他们按以色列人支派的数目，从约旦河中取了十二块石头，正如耶和华所吩咐约书亚的。他们把石头带过去，到他们所住宿的地方，就放在那里。约书亚另外把十二块石头立在约旦河的中间，在抬约柜祭司的脚站立的地方；直到今日，石头还在那里。
