The Lord kept all the good promises he had made to the Israelites. Every one of them came true.

And you know that with all your heart and soul.Every good thing has come to pass that the Lord your God has promised you. So you know that he can also bring against you all the evil things he has warned you about. He’ll do it until he has destroyed you. He’ll do it until he has removed you from this good land. It’s the land he has given you.

God isn’t a mere human. He can’t lie. He isn’t a human being. He doesn’t change his mind. He speaks, and then he acts. He makes a promise, and then he keeps it.

The God who has chosen you is faithful. He will do all these things.

When God made his promise, he gave his word. He did this so we would have good reason not to give up. Instead, we have run to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope is set before us in God’s promise. So God made his promise and gave his word. These two things can’t change. He couldn’t lie about them.

God is faithful. He has chosen you to share life with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

That belief and understanding lead to the hope of eternal life. Before time began, God promised to give that life. And he does not lie.
