They gave them Kiriath Arba( that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

以色列眾族派到希伯崙來見大衛，說道：『看哪，我們原是你的骨肉。從前掃羅做王管理我們的時候、率領以色列人出入的乃是你。永恆主也曾對你說過：『是你要牧養我人民以色列；是你要做人君來管理以色列。」』於是以色列眾長老都到希伯崙來見大衛王；大衛王在希伯崙永恆主面前和他們立約，他們就膏立了大衛做王來管理以色列。大衛登極的時候年三十歲；他作王四十年。在希伯崙作王管理猶大七年零六個月；在耶路撒冷作王管理全以色列和猶大三十三年。

過了四年，押沙龍對王說：『請准我去、在希伯崙還我向永恆主所許的願；

此後大衛求問永恆主說：『我上猶大的一個城去可以麼？』永恆主對他說：『你可以上去。』大衛說：『我上哪裏去呢？』永恆主說：『上希伯崙去。』於是大衛上那裏去，他的兩個妻子、耶斯列人亞希暖和那作過迦密人拿八妻子的亞比該、也都上去。大衛也將跟隨的人、各人和各人的家眷、都帶上去，住在希伯崙的城寨中。

於是以色列人在拿弗他利山地把在加利利的基低斯分別出來，在以法蓮山把示劍分別出來，在猶大山地把基列亞巴、就是希伯崙、分別出來。又在約但河東邊耶利哥對面、從如便支派中在曠野在平原設立比悉；從迦得支派中在基列設立拉末；從瑪拿西支派中在巴珊設立哥蘭。這些城都是給以色列眾人、給在他們中間寄居的外僑所指定的城，叫凡無意擊殺人的可以逃到那裏，不至於死在報血仇的人手中，等到他站在會眾面前聽審判的時候為止。

宏他、基列亞巴、（基列亞巴就是希伯崙）、洗珥：九座城，還有屬這些城的村莊。

雅各來到他父親以撒那裏，基列亞巴的幔利，亞伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方：那地方就是希伯崙。

撒拉死在迦南地的基列亞巴，就是希伯崙：亞伯拉罕進去，為撒拉號咷哀哭。

約書亞照永恆主所吩咐他的、將猶大人中一分地業、基列亞巴、分給了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒；亞巴是亞衲人的祖（基列亞巴就是希伯崙）。迦勒就從那裏把亞衲人的三個兒子、示篩、亞希幔、撻買、趕出；他們是亞衲人的後代。

猶大人去攻擊住希伯崙的迦南人，擊殺了示篩、亞希幔、撻買；希伯崙從前名叫基列亞巴。

希伯崙從前名叫基列亞巴；亞巴是亞衲族中最偉大的人。於是遍地太平、沒有戰爭。
