二人曰、爾使我所發之誓、我必守之而無咎、

二人曰、爾既用絳索以縋我、必以此索、仍繫於牖、集爾父母兄弟戚屬、至於斯室、厥後我儕至斯土、則爾使我所發之誓、我必恪守。

二人對曰、爾使我所發之誓、我必守之而不失信、

Now the men had said to her,“ This oath you made us swear will not be binding on us

The spies had said to her,“ You made us give our word. But we won’t keep our promise

The men said to her,“ We will be guiltless with respect to this oath of yours that you have made us swear.

Before they left, the men told her,“ We will be bound by the oath we have taken only if you follow these instructions.

The men said to her,“ We will be free from this oath you made us swear,

And the men said to her,“ We shall be exempt from this oath to you which you have made us swear,

So the men said to her:“ We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear,

And the men said unto her, We will be guiltless of this thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

The men said to her,“ We will be free from this oath you made us swear,

And the men said unto her, We[ will be] blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

The men said to her,“ We are not bound by this oath you made us swear unless the following conditions are met:

The men said to her,“ We will be guiltless of this your oath which you’ve made us to swear.

“‘ Do not steal.“‘ Do not lie.“‘ Do not deceive one another.“‘ Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the Lord. (niv)

When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. (niv)

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul. (niv)

“ You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. (niv)

I want you to swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac.”The servant asked him,“ What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?”“ Make sure that you do not take my son back there,” Abraham said.“ The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying,‘ To your offspring I will give this land’— he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine.
