Now therefore, please swear to me by Yahweh, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign;

“ Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign

Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.

For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

It will happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name,‘ As Yahweh lives;’ even as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then they will be built up in the middle of my people.

without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful;

For how can I endure to see the evil that would come to my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my relatives?”

You shall not only show me the loving kindness of Yahweh while I still live, that I not die;but you shall also not cut off your kindness from my house forever; no, not when Yahweh has cut off every one of the enemies of David from the surface of the earth.”So Jonathan made a covenant with David’s house, saying,“ Yahweh will require it at the hand of David’s enemies.”Jonathan caused David to swear again, for the love that he had to him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.

Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to let them live. The princes of the congregation swore to them.

David said to him,“ Will you bring me down to this troop?” He said,“ Swear to me by God that you will not kill me and not deliver me up into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this troop.”

The blood shall be to you for a token on the houses where you are. When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

The servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.

and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”
