The men started out on their way to map out the land. Joshua directed them,“ Go and map out the land. Write a report about its features. Then return to me. I’ll cast lots for you here at Shiloh in the sight of the Lord.”

As the men started on their way to map out the land, Joshua instructed them,“ Go and make a survey of the land and write a description of it. Then return to me, and I will cast lots for you here at Shiloh in the presence of the Lord.”

So the men arose and went, and Joshua charged those who went to write the description of the land, saying,“ Go up and down in the land and write a description and return to me. And I will cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shiloh.”

As the men started on their way to map out the land, Joshua commanded them,“ Go and explore the land and write a description of it. Then return to me, and I will assign the land to the tribes by casting sacred lots here in the presence of the Lord at Shiloh.”

As the men prepared to go, Joshua commanded them to write down a description of the land, saying,“ Go and survey the land, write a description of it, and return to me. I will then cast lots for you here in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD.”

Then the men arose and went, and Joshua commanded those who went to write a description of the land, saying,“ Go and walk through the land and write a description of it, and return to me; then I will cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shiloh.”

Then the men arose to go away; and Joshua charged those who went to survey the land, saying,“ Go, walk through the land, survey it, and come back to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shiloh.”

And the men arose, and went: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me; and I will cast lots for you here before Jehovah in Shiloh.

As the men prepared to go, Joshua commanded them to write down a description of the land, saying,“ Go and survey the land, write a description of it, and return to me. I will then cast lots for you here in Shiloh in the presence of the Lord.”

And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh.

When the men started out, Joshua told those going to map out the land,“ Go, walk through the land, map it out, and return to me. Then I will draw lots for you before the LORD here in Shiloh.”

The men arose and went. Joshua commanded those who went to survey the land, saying,“ Go walk through the land, survey it, and come again to me. I will cast lots for you here before Yahweh in Shiloh.”

So let us do all we can to live in peace. And let us work hard to build up one another.

Then Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh in the sight of the Lord. There he gave out a share of land to each of the remaining tribes in Israel.

Then the believers prayed. They said,“ Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen.Show us who should take the place of Judas as an apostle. He gave up being an apostle to go where he belongs.”Then they cast lots. Matthias was chosen. So he was added to the 11 apostles.

The whole community of Israel gathered together at Shiloh. They set up the tent of meeting there. The country was brought under their control.

Write reports about the features of those seven shares of land. Bring them here to me. Then I’ll cast lots for you in the sight of the Lord our God.

Then Saul prayed to the Lord, the God of Israel. He said,“ Why haven’t you answered your servant today? If I or my son Jonathan is to blame, answer with Urim. But if the Israelites are to blame, answer with Thummim.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen by casting lots. The other men were cleared of blame.

The rest of the tribes of Israel received their shares of land in Canaan. Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, decided what each of the tribes should receive. The leaders of the tribes helped them make these decisions.The shares of nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh were decided by casting lots. That’s what the Lord had commanded through Moses.

Go! Walk through the land. See how long and wide it is. I am giving it to you.”

Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes. The tribe of Judah was chosen.The groups of Judah came forward. The group of Zerah was chosen. Joshua had the group of Zerah come forward by families. The family of Zimri was chosen.He had their men come forward one by one. Achan was chosen. Achan was the son of Karmi. Karmi was the son of Zimri. And Zimri was the son of Zerah. Zerah was from the tribe of Judah.

Land was given to the tribe of Judah, according to its family groups. It reached down to the territory of Edom. It went as far south as the Desert of Zin.

Divide it up among the nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh. Give each tribe its share.”
