众人按照大卫的吩咐，把扫罗和约拿单的骸骨埋葬在扫罗父亲基士的墓里，在便雅悯境内的洗拉。此后，上帝垂听了人们为国家的祷告。

然后再沿着欣嫩子谷而上，直到耶布斯，即耶路撒冷的南面，再到欣嫩谷西面、利乏音谷北端的山顶；

撒母耳离开吉甲去便雅悯境内的基比亚。扫罗数了一下跟随他的人，约有六百人。扫罗及其儿子约拿单和随从留在便雅悯境内的迦巴，非利士人则在密抹扎营。

扫罗返回基比亚自己的家时，有一群被上帝感动的勇士跟随他。

他们过了关口，在迦巴宿营。拉玛人战战兢兢，扫罗的乡亲基比亚人仓皇逃跑。

耶和华说：“以色列人啊，从基比亚的日子以来，你们一直不断地犯罪，从未改变。难道战祸没有临到基比亚的邪恶之辈吗？

主人说：“我们不可在没有以色列人住的外邦城邑住宿，不如赶到基比亚。”他又说：“我们前往基比亚或拉玛住宿吧。”于是，他们继续前行，到便雅悯境内的基比亚时，天已经黑了。他们决定在那里过夜。因为没有人接待他们，他们只好在城中的广场露宿。

人数多的多分产业，人数少的少分产业，要按登记的人数分配。

那利未人，就是被害女子的丈夫说：“我和我的妾到便雅悯的基比亚住宿。那天晚上，基比亚人包围我们住宿的房子，要杀死我。他们把我的妾蹂躏致死。

又往下到欣嫩子谷对面的山麓，也就是利乏音谷北边，然后往南，经欣嫩谷到耶布斯山南部，直到隐·罗结；

犹大人没能把住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人赶出去，他们至今仍然跟犹大人一同居住。

你们要按宗族家系抽签分配土地，人口多的多分，人口少的少分，抽到哪块地就得哪块地。

那天，大卫下令军队从地下水道爬进城去，攻打那些“瞎子、瘸子”，他憎恶这些耶布斯人。后来便有一句俗语：“瞎子、瘸子不得进殿！”
