but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”

You will also have the central hill country. It’s covered with trees. Cut them down and clear the land. That whole land from one end to the other will belong to you. The Canaanites use chariots that have iron parts. And those people are strong. But you can drive them out.”

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

so that we confidently say,“ The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;and they spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying,“ The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us— a land which flows with milk and honey.Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection is gone from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”

“ When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.When you are approaching the battle, the priest shall come forward and speak to the people.He shall say to them,‘ Hear, Israel, you are approaching the battle against your enemies today. Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, or panic, or be terrified by them,for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom should I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom should I dread?When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.

So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath arba( that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing and non existent.For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand, Who says to you,‘ Do not fear, I will help you.’Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you people of Israel; I will help you,” declares the Lord,“ and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.Behold, I turned you into a new, sharp threshing sledge with double edges; You will thresh the mountains and pulverize them, And make the hills like chaff.You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away, And the storm will scatter them; But you will rejoice in the Lord, You will boast in the Holy One of Israel.

Then they came out, they and all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots.So all of these kings gathered together, and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.Yet the Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I am going to turn all of them over to Israel as good as dead; you shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

And from the top of the mountain the border turned to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah and proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron, then the border turned to Baalah( that is, Kiriath jearim).

And Joshua said to them,“ If you are a numerous people, go up to the forest and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”The sons of Joseph then said,“ The hill country is not enough for us, but all the Canaanites who live in the valley land have iron chariots, both those who are in Beth shean and its towns and those who are in the Valley of Jezreel.”

All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon as far as Misrephoth maim, all the Sidonians, I will drive out from the sons of Israel; only allot it to Israel as an inheritance as I have commanded you.

“ I, I Myself, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of mortal man, And of a son of man who is made like grass,That you have forgotten the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth, That you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, As he makes ready to destroy? And where is the rage of the oppressor?
