but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”

You will also have the central hill country. It’s covered with trees. Cut them down and clear the land. That whole land from one end to the other will belong to you. The Canaanites use chariots that have iron parts. And those people are strong. But you can drive them out.”

The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.”

打探迦南的人中，嫩的兒子約書亞和耶孚尼的兒子迦勒撕裂衣服，對以色列全體會眾說：「我們去打探的地方是佳美之地。如果耶和華喜悅我們，祂必把我們帶到那片土地，將那奶蜜之鄉賜給我們。你們不要背叛耶和華，也不要害怕那裡的人，他們不過是我們的獵物，他們已失去庇護。耶和華與我們同在，不要怕他們。」

「你們和敵人交戰時，面對比你們強大的軍隊及戰車戰馬，不要害怕，因為你們的上帝耶和華與你們同在，祂曾帶領你們離開埃及。你們出戰之前，祭司要上前鼓舞士氣，說，『以色列人啊，聽著！今天你們要和敵人交戰，不要膽怯，不要懼怕，也不要恐慌。因為你們的上帝耶和華要與你們同去，為你們爭戰，使你們得勝。』

耶和華是我的光，我的拯救，我還怕誰？耶和華是我的堡壘，我還怕誰？當惡人來吞吃我，仇敵來攻擊我時，必失足跌倒。

於是，民眾便設立拿弗他利山區加利利境內的基低斯、以法蓮山區的示劍和猶大山區的基列·亞巴，即希伯崙作為避難城。

我是你的上帝，我必與你同在，你不用驚慌也不用害怕。我必賜你力量，幫助你，用我公義的右手扶持你。』「看啊，向你發怒的人必抱愧蒙羞；與你為敵的人都要滅亡，歸於無有。你尋找與你相爭的人，卻找不到；與你爭戰的人必歸於無有。因為我是你的上帝耶和華，我必拉著你的右手對你說，『不要怕，我必幫助你。』「如蛆如蟲的雅各啊，以色列人啊，不要怕！我耶和華必幫助你。以色列的聖者是你的救贖主。看啊，我要使你成為一具簇新、帶許多利齒的打穀器。你要打爛高山，使丘陵碎如糠秕。你要簸它們，讓風吹散它們，讓狂風捲走它們。但你要以耶和華為喜樂，以以色列的聖者為榮耀。

這些王便率領自己的軍隊，帶著許多馬匹和戰車傾巢出動，人數多如海邊的沙。他們在米倫河會師，一同紮營，要跟以色列人交戰。耶和華對約書亞說：「你不要懼怕他們。明天這個時候，我必把他們全部交給以色列人殺戮，你要砍斷他們馬匹的蹄筋，燒毀他們的戰車。」

從山頂到尼弗多亞泉，到以弗崙山的各城，直到巴拉，即基列·耶琳；

約書亞對他們說：「如果你們人口眾多，認為以法蓮山區窄小，你們可以到比利洗人和利乏音人居住的地方開闢林區。」他們答道：「那些地方不夠我們住，何況住在伯·善一帶和耶斯列平原的迦南人都有鐵戰車。」

我必為以色列人趕走從黎巴嫩到米斯利弗·瑪音一帶山區的西頓人。你只管照我的吩咐，把這些土地分給以色列人作產業，

耶和華說：「安慰你們的是我，是我。你為什麼要害怕難逃一死、生命如草芥的世人呢？難道你忘記了創造你、鋪展穹蒼、奠立大地根基的耶和華嗎？難道因為試圖毀滅你的欺壓者大發怒氣，你就整天驚恐不安嗎？他們的怒氣如今在哪裡呢？
