It went on from Bethel( that is, Luz), crossed over to the territory of the Arkites in Ataroth,

and it went out from Beth- el to Luz, and passed along unto the border of the Archites to Ataroth;

The southern border extended from Bethel to Luz, and crossed to Arkite territory at Ataroth.

The border went over from there toward Luz, to the side of Luz( which is Bethel) southward; and the border descended to Ataroth Addar, near the hill that lies on the south side of Lower Beth Horon.

And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously.

And so it was, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom,“ Long live the king! Long live the king!”

Ahithophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s companion.

And the house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and the Lord was with them.So the house of Joseph sent men to spy out Bethel.( The name of the city was formerly Luz.)And when the spies saw a man coming out of the city, they said to him,“ Please show us the entrance to the city, and we will show you mercy.”So he showed them the entrance to the city, and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man and all his family go.And the man went to the land of the Hittites, built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.
