便雅憫人沒有趕出住耶路撒冷的耶布斯人。耶布斯人仍在耶路撒冷與便雅憫人同住，直到今日。

猶大人攻打耶路撒冷，將城攻取，用刀殺了城內的人，並且放火燒城。

大衛和跟隨他的人到了耶路撒冷，要攻打住那地方的耶布斯人。耶布斯人對大衛說：「你若不趕出瞎子、瘸子，必不能進這地方」；心裏想大衛決不能進去。然而大衛攻取錫安的保障，就是大衛的城。當日，大衛說：「誰攻打耶布斯人，當上水溝攻打我心裏所恨惡的瘸子、瞎子。」從此有俗語說：「在那裏有瞎子、瘸子，他不能進屋去。」大衛住在保障裏，給保障起名叫大衛城。大衛又從米羅以裏，周圍築牆。

大衛和以色列眾人到了耶路撒冷，就是耶布斯；那時耶布斯人住在那裏。耶布斯人對大衛說：「你決不能進這地方。」然而大衛攻取錫安的保障，就是大衛的城。大衛說：「誰先攻打耶布斯人，必作首領元帥。」洗魯雅的兒子約押先上去，就作了元帥。大衛住在保障裏，所以那保障叫作大衛城。大衛又從米羅起，四圍建築城牆，其餘的是約押修理。

我們原曉得律法是屬乎靈的，但我是屬乎肉體的，是已經賣給罪了。因為我所做的，我自己不明白；我所願意的，我並不做；我所恨惡的，我倒去做。若我所做的，是我所不願意的，我就應承律法是善的。既是這樣，就不是我做的，乃是住在我裏頭的罪做的。我也知道，在我裏頭，就是我肉體之中，沒有良善。因為，立志為善由得我，只是行出來由不得我。故此，我所願意的善，我反不做；我所不願意的惡，我倒去做。若我去做所不願意做的，就不是我做的，乃是住在我裏頭的罪做的。我覺得有個律，就是我願意為善的時候，便有惡與我同在。
