Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.

But the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the people of Judah could not drive out, so the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

And the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither; thinking, David cannot come in hither.Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and smite the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.And David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem( the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.And David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.And he built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.For that which I do I know not: for not what I would, that do I practise; but what I hate, that I do.But if what I would not, that I do, I consent unto the law that it is good.So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not.For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise.But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present.
