Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”

求你将耶和华那日应许我的这山地给我；那里有亚衲族人，并宽大坚固的城，你也曾听见了。或者耶和华照他所应许的与我同在，我就把他们赶出去。”

请你将耶和华那日所说的这山区给我。那日你也曾听说，这里有亚衲族人，以及宽大坚固的城，或许耶和华会照他所说的与我同在，我就把他们赶出去。”

今求以當時許我之山、賜我為業、其時爾聞在彼有亞衲族人、其城垣高大鞏固、若夢主祐我、則可逐之、如主所許、

So give me this hill country. The Lord promised it to me that day. At that time you yourself heard that the Anakites were living there. You also heard that their cities were large and had high walls around them. But I’ll drive them out, just as the Lord said I would. He will help me do it.”

So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.”

So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.”

Now give me this hill country the LORD promised me on that day, because you heard then that the Anakim are there, as well as large fortified cities. Perhaps the LORD will be with me and I will drive them out as the LORD promised.”

Now therefore give me this hill- country, whereof Jehovah spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakim were there, and cities great and fortified: it may be that Jehovah will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Jehovah spake.

Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims[ were] there, and[ that] the cities[ were] great[ and] fenced: if so be the LORD[ will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

Now, assign me this hill country which the LORD promised me at that time! No doubt you heard at that time that the Anakites live there in large, fortified cities. But, assuming the LORD is with me, I will conquer them, as the LORD promised.”

Now therefore give me this hill country, of which Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh said.”

We saw the Nephilim there( the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,

With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.They swarmed around me like bees, but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them down.

From Hebron Caleb drove out the three Anakites— Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, the sons of Anak.

Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said,“ Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.”

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir and Anab, from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns.No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod did any survive.

Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer,“ Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.”

The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.

The Lord said to Moses,“ Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.”

As Moses had promised, Hebron was given to Caleb, who drove from it the three sons of Anak.
