Those areas begin at the Shihor River in the eastern part of Egypt. They go to the territory of Ekron in the north. All that land is considered Canaanite even though it is controlled by five Philistine rulers. They rule over Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron. The Avvites

( from the Shihor, which is east of Egypt, northward to the boundary of Ekron, it is counted as Canaanite; there are five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron), and those of the Avvim,

and the larger territory of the Canaanites, extending from the stream of Shihor on the border of Egypt, northward to the boundary of Ekron. It includes the territory of the five Philistine rulers of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron. The land of the Avvites

Then the Avvim, who lived in villages as far as Gaza: the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them and lived in their place.)

Now what do you gain by going to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or why do you to go on the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

Then they said,“ What should the trespass offering be which we shall return to him?” They said,“ Five golden tumors and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

The sons of Ham were: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

Nevertheless the children of Israel didn’t drive out the Geshurites, nor the Maacathites: but Geshur and Maacath live within Israel to this day.

“ Command the children of Israel, and tell them,‘ When you come into the land of Canaan( this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders),then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the side of Edom, and your south border shall be from the end of the Salt Sea eastward.Your border shall turn about southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass along to Zin; and it shall pass southward of Kadesh Barnea; and it shall go from there to Hazar Addar, and pass along to Azmon.The border shall turn about from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and it shall end at the sea.“‘ For the western border, you shall have the great sea and its border. This shall be your west border.“‘ This shall be your north border: from the great sea you shall mark out for yourselves Mount Hor.From Mount Hor you shall mark out to the entrance of Hamath; and the border shall pass by Zedad.Then the border shall go to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar Enan. This shall be your north border.“‘ You shall mark out your east border from Hazar Enan to Shepham.The border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain. The border shall go down, and shall reach to the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward.The border shall go down to the Jordan, and end at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to its borders around it.’”Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying,“ This is the land which you shall inherit by lot, which Yahweh has commanded to give to the nine tribes, and to the half- tribe;for the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their fathers’ houses, the tribe of the children of Gad according to their fathers’ houses, and the half- tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.

When the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.These are the golden tumors which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering to Yahweh: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;

For Gaza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation. They will drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron will be rooted up.Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! Yahweh’s word is against you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you, that there will be no inhabitant.

Canaan became the father of Sidon( his firstborn), Heth,the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon— as you go toward Gerar— to Gaza— as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim— to Lasha.
