And their coast was from Aroer, that[ is] on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that[ is] in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;

Their territory starts at Aroer on the rim of the Arnon River valley. It includes the town in the middle of the valley. It includes all of the high plains near Medeba.

So their territory was from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland by Medeba;

Their territory extended from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Gorge( including the town in the middle of the gorge) to the plain beyond Medeba.

Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon,[ and] ruled from Aroer, which[ is] upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok,[ which is] the border of the children of Ammon;

And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

And this land,[ which] we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which[ is] by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab,[ and] the lords of the high places of Arnon.Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which[ reacheth] unto Medeba.

And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard[ even] unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.

The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste,[ and] brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste,[ and] brought to silence;He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads[ shall be] baldness,[ and] every beard cut off.

And Moses gave unto them,[ even] to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts,[ even] the cities of the country round about.And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,And Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,And Bethnimrah, and Bethharan, fenced cities: and folds for sheep.And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,And Nebo, and Baalmeon,( their names being changed,) and Shibmah: and gave other names unto the cities which they builded.

Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn; surely[ they are] stricken.For the fields of Heshbon languish,[ and] the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come[ even] unto Jazer, they wandered[ through] the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
