When all the kings heard about Jericho and Ai, those who were west of the Jordan in the hill country, in the Judean foothills, and all along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea toward Lebanon— the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—

So Joshua conquered the whole region— the hill country, the Negev, the Judean foothills, and the slopes— with all their kings, leaving no survivors. He completely destroyed every living being, as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded.

“ Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan to go and drive out nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities fortified to the heavens.

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying,“ I give this land to your offspring, from the brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River:the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaim,Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.”

For My angel will go before you and bring you to the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.

“ When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess, and He drives out many nations before you— the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and powerful than you—

I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey— the territory of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

I will send the hornet in front of you, and it will drive the Hivites, Canaanites, and Hittites away from you.I will not drive them out ahead of you in a single year; otherwise, the land would become desolate, and wild animals would multiply against you.I will drive them out little by little ahead of you until you have become numerous and take possession of the land.I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates River. For I will place the inhabitants of the land under your control, and you will drive them out ahead of you.
