耶和華怎樣吩咐他的僕人摩西，摩西就怎樣吩咐約書亞，約書亞也照樣行了；耶和華吩咐摩西的一切，約書亞沒有一樣不辦妥的。

耶和華把立拿和立拿的王也交在以色列人手裡，約書亞用刀攻擊那城，殺了城裡所有的人，不容一人逃脫；他對待立拿王就像對待耶利哥王一樣。

是照著耶和華的僕人摩西吩咐以色列人的，照著摩西律法書上所寫的，用未經過鐵器打鑿的整塊石塊築成的一座祭壇；在這祭壇之上，眾人向耶和華獻燔祭，也獻平安祭。

在那天，約書亞佔領了瑪基大，用刀擊殺了那城的人和那城的王，把城中所有的人完全毀滅，不容一人逃脫；他對待瑪基大王就像對待耶利哥王一樣。

耶和華在摩押平原約旦河邊，耶利哥對面對摩西說：“你要吩咐以色列說：‘你們過約旦河到了迦南地的時候，就要把所有的居民從你們面前趕出去，毀壞他們的一切雕像，以及一切鑄像，又拆毀他們的一切邱壇。你們要佔領那地，住在那裡，因為我已經把那地賜給你們作產業。

你們佔領了城以後，就要放火燒城；要照著耶和華的話行事；你們要謹慎，我已經吩咐你們了。”

他們回答約書亞，說：“因為你的僕人確實地聽見，耶和華你的神曾經吩咐他的僕人摩西，要把這整片土地賜給你們，並且要在你們面前把這地上所有的居民都消滅，因此，我們因你們的緣故，很怕喪命，才行了這事。

耶和華把拉吉交在以色列人手裡，第二天約書亞就佔領了拉吉，用刀攻擊那城，殺了城中所有的人，跟他對立拿所行的一切一樣。
