“ Come up and help me attack Gibeon,” he said,“ because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”

於是約書亞與他們講和，與他們立約，容他們活着；會眾的首領也向他們起誓。

耶路撒冷王亞多尼‧洗德聽見約書亞奪了艾城，盡行毀滅，怎樣待耶利哥和耶利哥的王，也照樣待艾城和艾城的王，又聽見基遍的居民與以色列人立了和約，住在他們中間，

列國的人民哪，任憑你們喧嚷，終必破壞；遠方的眾人哪，當側耳而聽！任憑你們束起腰來，終必破壞；你們束起腰來，終必破壞。任憑你們同謀，終歸無有；任憑你們言定，終不成立；因為神與我們同在。

出來要迷惑地上四方的列國，就是歌革和瑪各，叫他們聚集爭戰。他們的人數多如海沙。他們上來遍滿了全地，圍住聖徒的營與蒙愛的城，就有火從天降下，燒滅了他們。那迷惑他們的魔鬼被扔在硫磺的火湖裏，就是獸和假先知所在的地方。他們必晝夜受痛苦，直到永永遠遠。

過了好些日子，猶太人商議要殺掃羅，但他們的計謀被掃羅知道了。他們又晝夜在城門守候，要殺他。他的門徒就在夜間用筐子把他從城牆上縋下去。掃羅到了耶路撒冷，想與門徒結交，他們卻都怕他，不信他是門徒。惟有巴拿巴接待他，領去見使徒，把他在路上怎麼看見主，主怎麼向他說話，他在大馬士革怎麼奉耶穌的名放膽傳道，都述說出來。

他們本是鬼魔的靈，施行奇事，出去到普天下眾王那裏，叫他們在神全能者的大日聚集爭戰。（

他們在這些事上，見你們不與他們同奔那放蕩無度的路，就以為怪，毀謗你們。

於是耶穌對門徒說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，背起他的十字架來跟從我。

海島看見就都害怕；地極也都戰兢，就近前來。他們各人幫助鄰舍，各人對弟兄說：壯膽吧！木匠勉勵銀匠，用鎚打光的勉勵打砧的，論銲工說，銲得好；又用釘子釘穩，免得偶像動搖。

你們若屬世界，世界必愛屬自己的；只因你們不屬世界，乃是我從世界中揀選了你們，所以世界就恨你們。

不但如此，凡立志在基督耶穌裏敬虔度日的也都要受逼迫。

你們這些淫亂的人哪，豈不知與世俗為友就是與神為敵嗎？所以凡想要與世俗為友的，就是與神為敵了。

人要把你們趕出會堂，並且時候將到，凡殺你們的就以為是事奉神。他們這樣行，是因未曾認識父，也未曾認識我。

喊叫說：「以色列人來幫助，這就是在各處教訓眾人糟踐我們百姓和律法，並這地方的。他又帶着希臘人進殿，污穢了這聖地。」（
