「如果有人犯了死罪，屍體被掛在木頭上，不可讓屍體在木頭上過夜，必須當天埋葬，因為凡掛在木頭上的人都是上帝所咒詛的。你們不可玷污你們的上帝耶和華將要賜給你們的土地。

服侍王的太監哈波拿說：「哈曼為那救駕有功的末底改做了一個二十三米高的木架，如今正立在哈曼家裡。」王說：「把哈曼吊在上面！」於是，哈曼被吊在他為末底改預備的木架上，王的怒氣這才平息。

基遍人在耶和華面前把他們七人吊死在山上，那時正好是收割大麥的時候。

眾人都說：「流祂血的責任由我們和我們的子孫承擔！」

查明確有此事後，便把二人吊死在木架上，並將這事當著王的面寫入史書。
