爾眾勿緩、追襲爾敵、擊其後軍、勿容入邑、爾上帝耶和華付之於爾手矣、

爾勿遲延、當追爾敵、擊其後軍、不容其入己之城、蓋主爾之天主必付之於爾手、

But don’t stop; pursue your enemies! Attack them from the rear and don’t let them reach their cities, for the Lord your God has given them into your hand.”

我要追赶我的仇敌，且要追上他们；若不将他们灭绝，我总不归回。我要打伤他们，使他们站不起来；他们必倒在我的脚下。你曾以力量束我的腰，使我能争战；也曾使那起来攻击我的，都服在我以下。你又使我的仇敌在我面前转身逃跑，使我剪除那恨我的人。他们呼求，却无人拯救；就是呼求耶和华，他也不应允。

耶和华在一日之间从以色列中剪除了头与尾—棕树枝与芦苇—长老和显要就是头，以谎言教人的先知就是尾。

懒惰不肯为耶和华做事的，必受诅咒；禁止刀剑不见血的，必受诅咒。

他若撤退到一座城，以色列众人必带绳子去那城，把城拉到河里，甚至连一块小石子也找不到。”

约书亚和以色列人彻底击败他们，直到把他们灭尽，只剩下少许的人逃进坚固的城。

我们为何静坐不动呢？我们当聚集，进入坚固城，在那里静默不言；因为耶和华—我们的上帝使我们静默不言，又将苦水给我们喝，都因我们得罪了耶和华。

大卫对亚比筛说：“现在比基利的儿子示巴对我们的危害恐怕比押沙龙更大。你要带领你主的一些仆人追赶他，免得他得了坚固的城镇，在我们眼前逃脱。”
