爾眾勿緩、追襲爾敵、擊其後軍、勿容入邑、爾上帝耶和華付之於爾手矣、

眾當追敵勿遲、擊其後軍、勿使入邑、蓋爾上帝耶和華付之於爾手。

爾勿遲延、當追爾敵、擊其後軍、不容其入己之城、蓋主爾之天主必付之於爾手、

But don’t stop; pursue your enemies! Attack them from the rear and don’t let them reach their cities, for the Lord your God has given them into your hand.”

我追赶仇敌，把他们追上；不消灭他们，我必不归回。我重创他们，使他们不能起来；他们都倒在我的脚下。你以能力给我束腰，使我能够作战；你又使那些起来攻击我的人都屈服在我的脚下。你使我的仇敌在我面前转背逃跑，使我可以歼灭恨我的人。他们呼叫，却没有人拯救；就算向耶和华呼求，他也不答应他们。

因此，耶和华在一日之间，必从以色列中剪除头和尾、棕枝与芦苇。长老和尊贵人就是头；用谎言教导人的先知就是尾。

不努力去作耶和华的工作的，该受咒诅；不使自己的刀剑见血的，应受咒诅。

如果他退入城里去，以色列众人就要带绳子到那城去，我们要把那城拉到河里去，使那里连一块小石头也找不到。”

约书亚和以色列人把他们杀得惨败，直到把他们灭绝为止，那些逃脱的人都逃进设防的城里；

我们为什么坐着不动呢？你们要集合起来，我们要进入坚固的城里去，在那里灭亡吧！因为耶和华我们的神要我们灭亡，又把毒水给我们喝，因我们得罪了耶和华。

大卫对亚比筛说：“现在比基利的儿子示巴要加害我们，比押沙龙更甚。你要带着你主人的仆人去追赶他，免得他找到了设防的城镇，就避过我们的眼目，从我们的手中逃脱了。”
