The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.

耶和華－你的上帝必將他們交給你，大大擾亂他們，直到他們被除滅。

那時，巴比倫王的軍隊正攻打耶路撒冷，又攻打猶大僅存的城鎮，就是拉吉和亞西加；原來猶大的堅固城只剩下這兩座。

於是耶和華擊打古實人，使他們敗在亞撒和猶大人面前，古實人就逃跑了。

他們在以色列人面前逃跑。正在伯‧和崙下坡的時候，耶和華從天上降下大冰雹在他們身上，直降到亞西加，打死他們。被冰雹打死的，比以色列人用刀殺死的還多。

當日，約書亞奪了瑪基大，用刀擊殺城中的人和王，把城中所有人完全滅盡，沒有留下一個倖存者。他處置瑪基大王，像從前處置耶利哥王一樣。

一隊往伯‧和崙去，一隊往邊界，下望朝着曠野的洗波音谷。

撒母耳正獻燔祭的時候，非利士人前來要與以色列爭戰。當日，耶和華打雷，發出極大的聲音，使非利士人潰亂，他們就敗在以色列面前。以色列人從米斯巴出來，追趕非利士人，擊殺他們，直到伯‧甲的下邊。撒母耳拿一塊石頭立在米斯巴和善的中間，給石頭起名叫以便‧以謝，說：「到如今耶和華都幫助我們。」

因為他們不是靠自己的刀劍承受土地，也不是靠自己的膀臂得勝，而是靠你的右手、你的膀臂，和你臉上的亮光，因為你喜愛他們。

基低羅、伯‧大袞、拿瑪、瑪基大，共十六座城，還有所屬的村莊。

基伯先和城的郊外，以及伯‧和崙和城的郊外，共四座城。
