As the sun was rising, God appointed a scorching east wind. The sun beat down on Jonah’s head so much that he almost fainted, and he wanted to die. He said,“ It’s better for me to die than to live.”

When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said,“ It would be better for me to die than to live.”

When the sun rose, God sent a burning east wind. The sun beat down on Jonah’s head. It made him very weak. He wanted to die. So he said,“ I’d rather die than live.”

And when the sun came up God designated a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah’s head so that he became faint, and he begged with all his soul to die, saying,“ Death is better to me than life!”

And it happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah’s head, so that he grew faint. Then he wished death for himself, and said,“ It is better for me to die than to live.”

And it came to pass, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night.

And now, LORD, take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent.

But it was uprooted in fury, thrown to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were torn off and dried up; fire consumed them.

They will not hunger or thirst, the scorching heat or sun will not strike them; for their compassionate one will guide them, and lead them to springs.

“ You speak as a foolish woman speaks,” he told her.“ Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?” Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.

The LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Moses said to Aaron,“ This is what the LORD has spoken: I will demonstrate my holiness to those who are near me, and I will reveal my glory before all the people.” And Aaron remained silent.

Then the LORD God appointed a plant, and it grew over Jonah to provide shade for his head to rescue him from his trouble. Jonah was greatly pleased with the plant.When dawn came the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the plant, and it withered.

I am speechless; I do not open my mouth because of what you have done.

So Samuel told him everything and did not hide anything from him. Eli responded,“ He is the LORD. Let him do what he thinks is good.”

Then the king instructed Zadok,“ Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor with the LORD, he will bring me back and allow me to see both it and its dwelling place.However, if he should say,‘ I do not delight in you,’ then here I am— he can do with me whatever pleases him.”

They will no longer hunger; they will no longer thirst; the sun will no longer strike them, nor will any scorching heat.

Do not stare at me because I am dark, for the sun has gazed on me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me take care of the vineyards. I have not taken care of my own vineyard.

But the LORD threw a great wind onto the sea, and such a great storm arose on the sea that the ship threatened to break apart.
