亞伯拉罕清早起來，到了他先前站在耶和華面前的地方，面向所多瑪和蛾摩拉，以及平原全地觀望。他觀看，看哪，那地有濃煙上騰，好像燒窰的濃煙。

我因人貪婪的罪孽，發怒擊打他；我轉臉向他發怒，他卻仍隨意背道而行。

看哪，他們對我說：「耶和華的話在哪裏呢？讓它應驗吧！」至於我，我並沒有逃避作牧人跟隨你，也沒有想望那災殃的日子；這是你所知道的。我嘴唇所出的都在你面前。

我若說：「我不再提耶和華，也不再奉他的名講論」，我心裏便覺得似乎有燒着的火悶在我骨中，我忍受不住，不能自禁。

水手都懼怕，各人哀求自己的神明。他們把船上的貨物拋進海裏，為要減輕載重。約拿卻下到艙底，躺臥沉睡。
