“ Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.”

Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’

I will give the land to your little ones— your innocent children. You were afraid they would be captured, but they will be the ones who occupy it.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.

For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”

When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.This change of plans greatly upset Jonah, and he became very angry.

“ Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.”This time Jonah obeyed the Lord’s command and went to Nineveh, a city so large that it took three days to see it all.

They all depend on you to give them food as they need it.When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are richly satisfied.

You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth—

The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it.When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.

The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.

“ Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord.“ Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.
