But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great city?”

Should I not be even more concerned about Nineveh, this enormous city? There are more than one hundred twenty thousand people in it who do not know right from wrong, as well as many animals!”

“ Get up! Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it because their evil has come up before me.”

Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’

Your children, who you said would be plunder, your sons who don’t yet know good from evil, will enter there. I will give them the land, and they will take possession of it.

Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your judgments like the deepest sea. LORD, you preserve people and animals.

God saw their actions— that they had turned from their evil ways— so God relented from the disaster he had threatened them with. And he did not do it.Jonah was greatly displeased and became furious.

All of them wait for you to give them their food at the right time.When you give it to them, they gather it; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

He causes grass to grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, producing food from the earth,

All eyes look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love.The LORD is good to everyone; his compassion rests on all he has made.
