耶和華讓我對君王和太后說：「從寶座上下來吧，因為你們頭上華美的王冠將要掉落。」

卑微的弟兄高升，應當快樂。富有的弟兄降卑，也要快樂，因為他會像花草一樣衰殘。

我便禁食，身披麻衣，頭蒙灰塵，向主上帝禱告祈求。

「哥拉汛啊，你大禍臨頭了！伯賽大啊，你大禍臨頭了！我在你們當中所行的神蹟，如果行在泰爾和西頓，那裡的人早就身披麻衣，頭蒙灰塵，坐在地上悔改了。

百姓啊，你們要身披麻布，在灰中打滾；你們要悲傷痛哭，如喪獨子，因為毀滅者將突然臨到我們。

祂說：「哥拉汛啊，你大禍臨頭了！伯賽大啊，你大禍臨頭了！我在你們當中所行的神蹟，如果行在泰爾和西頓，那裡的人早就身披麻衣，頭蒙灰塵，悔改了。

因此我厭惡自己，在塵土和爐灰中懺悔。」

不要在迦特宣揚，也不要哭泣，要在伯·亞弗拉的灰塵中打滾。

君王啊，要慎思明辨！世上的統治者啊，要接受勸誡！要以敬畏的心事奉耶和華，要喜樂也要戰戰兢兢。要降服在祂兒子面前，免得祂發怒，你們便在罪惡中滅亡，因為祂的怒氣將臨。投靠祂的人有福了！

要謙卑，臉伏於地，或許還有希望。
