使人禁食、必守大會、集長老居民、入爾上帝耶和華之殿、呼籲耶和華、

約沙法甚恐、禱耶和華、使猶大舉國禁食。

我禁食衣麻蒙灰、仰首禱告我主上帝、

明日此時、必大雨雹、自埃及肇基迄今、未有若此之甚。今爾在田之群畜、當使避匿、雨雹時凡人與畜、在田不歸者必死。法老之臣、畏耶和華命者使僕眾與群畜、感趨歸舍。其不以耶和華命為意者、僕眾與群畜、仍遺於田。○

耶和華曰、彼毋需誨其兄弟鄰里、使識耶和華、蓋自尊逮卑、莫不知予、我將赦其罪、不錄其愆。
