Jonah answered,“ I am a Hebrew, and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.”

He answered,“ I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”

And he said to them,“ I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”

So he said to them,“ I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land.”

And he said unto them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear Jehovah, the God of heaven, who hath made the sea and the dry land.

He answered them,“ I’m a Hebrew. I worship Yahweh, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land.”

And he said unto them, I[ am] an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry[ land].

He said to them,“ I am a Hebrew! And I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”

He said to them,“ I am a Hebrew, and I fear Yahweh, the God of heaven, who has made the sea and the dry land.”

The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too.Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,

When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.

“ This is what King Cyrus of Persia says:“ The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build him a Temple at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

“ You alone are the Lord. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you.

At the same time there was a terrible earthquake that destroyed a tenth of the city. Seven thousand people died in that earthquake, and everyone else was terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

But one of Lot’s men escaped and reported everything to Abram the Hebrew, who was living near the oak grove belonging to Mamre the Amorite. Mamre and his relatives, Eshcol and Aner, were Abram’s allies.

Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.

So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria returned to Bethel and taught the new residents how to worship the Lord.

But since these foreign settlers did not worship the Lord when they first arrived, the Lord sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever.

Satan replied to the Lord,“ Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God.

“ From Artaxerxes, the king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the teacher of the law of the God of heaven. Greetings.“ I decree that any of the people of Israel in my kingdom, including the priests and Levites, may volunteer to return to Jerusalem with you.

for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it:‘ To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.“ He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man made temples,and human hands can’t serve his needs— for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.

“ This was their answer:‘ We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the Temple that was built here many years ago by a great king of Israel.

He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of Babylon.That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven.

she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running.“ Look!” she said.“ My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed.

and they cursed the God of heaven for their pains and sores. But they did not repent of their evil deeds and turn to God.

Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous deeds have been revealed.”

“ Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings— just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.

I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin— a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law.

The king asked,“ Well, how can I help you?” With a prayer to the God of heaven,

For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me,

They continue to follow their former practices instead of truly worshiping the Lord and obeying the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands he gave the descendants of Jacob, whose name he changed to Israel.For the Lord had made a covenant with the descendants of Jacob and commanded them:“ Do not worship any other gods or bow before them or serve them or offer sacrifices to them.

“ During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.
