But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish.

在约帕有一个女徒，名叫大比大，翻希腊话就是多加；她广行善事，多施周济。

他施的民哪，可以流行你的地，好像尼罗河；不再有腰带拘紧你。

“亚基帕王啊，我故此没有违背那从天上来的异象；

就祷告耶和华说：“耶和华啊，我在本国的时候岂不是这样说吗？我知道你是有恩典、有怜悯的神，不轻易发怒，有丰盛的慈爱，并且后悔不降所说的灾，所以我急速逃往他施去。

我传福音原没有可夸的，因为我是不得已的。若不传福音，我便有祸了。

推罗人哪，你们当过到他施去；沿海的居民哪，你们都当哀号。

他在那里进了一个洞，就住在洞中。耶和华的话临到他说：“以利亚啊，你在这里做什么？”

耶和华啊，你曾劝导我，我也听了你的劝导。你比我有力量，且胜了我。我终日成为笑话，人人都戏弄我。我每逢讲论的时候，就发出哀声，我喊叫说：有强暴和毁灭！因为耶和华的话终日成了我的凌辱、讥刺。我若说：我不再提耶和华，也不再奉他的名讲论，我便心里觉得似乎有烧着的火闭塞在我骨中，我就含忍不住，不能自禁。

此后，彼得在约帕一个硝皮匠西门的家里住了多日。

“他施人因你多有各类的财物，就作你的客商，拿银、铁、锡、铅兑换你的货物。

耶和华对撒但说：“凡他所有的都在你手中；只是不可伸手加害于他。”于是撒但从耶和华面前退去。

摩西说：“主啊，你愿意打发谁，就打发谁去吧！”耶和华向摩西发怒说：“不是有你的哥哥利未人亚伦吗？我知道他是能言的；现在他出来迎接你，他一见你，心里就欢喜。

但保罗因为马可从前在旁非利亚离开他们，不和他们同去做工，就以为不可带他去。

于是灵将我举起，带我而去。我心中甚苦，灵性忿激，并且耶和华的灵在我身上大有能力。

耶稣说：“手扶着犁向后看的，不配进神的国。”

他们要受刑罚，就是永远沉沦，离开主的面和他权能的荣光。

我往哪里去躲避你的灵？我往哪里逃、躲避你的面？我若升到天上，你在那里；我若在阴间下榻，你也在那里。我若展开清晨的翅膀，飞到海极居住，就是在那里，你的手必引导我；你的右手也必扶持我。我若说：“黑暗必定遮蔽我，我周围的亮光必成为黑夜”，黑暗也不能遮蔽我，使你不见，黑夜却如白昼发亮。黑暗和光明，在你看都是一样。

于是撒但从耶和华面前退去，击打约伯，使他从脚掌到头顶长毒疮。

又临到他施的船只并一切可爱的美物。

我们必照你所需用的，从黎巴嫩砍伐树木，扎成筏子，浮海运到约帕；你可以从那里运到耶路撒冷。”

天起了凉风，耶和华神在园中行走。那人和他妻子听见神的声音，就藏在园里的树木中，躲避耶和华神的面。

以利亚见这光景就起来逃命，到了犹大的别是巴，将仆人留在那里，

众海岛必等候我，首先是他施的船只，将你的众子连他们的金银从远方一同带来，都为耶和华你神的名，又为以色列的圣者，因为他已经荣耀了你。
