他們又問他：「我們該對你怎麼做，才能使海為我們平靜下來呢？」因為海浪越來越洶湧了。

又謂之曰、我當何以待爾、使海為我而恬靜乎、因海久而愈盪、

又曰、今海震盪愈甚、當若何待爾、則風浪可息。

又曰、今海之波濤洶湧已甚、當若何待爾、使海恬靜乎、

The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him,“ What should we do to you to stop this storm?”

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will calm down for us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will become calm for us?”— for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”— for the sea was growing more tempestuous.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you to calm this sea that’s against us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

Because the storm was growing worse and worse, they said to him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may be calm to us?” For the sea grew more and more stormy.

大卫年间有饥荒，一连三年，大卫就求问耶和华。耶和华说：“这饥荒是因扫罗和他流人血之家杀死基遍人。”原来这基遍人不是以色列人，乃是亚摩利人中所剩的；以色列人曾向他们起誓，不杀灭他们，扫罗却为以色列人和犹大人发热心，想要杀灭他们。大卫王召了他们来，问他们说：“我当为你们怎样行呢？可用什么赎这罪，使你们为耶和华的产业祝福呢？”基遍人回答说：“我们和扫罗与他家的事并不关乎金银，也不要因我们的缘故杀一个以色列人。”大卫说：“你们怎样说，我就为你们怎样行。”他们对王说：“那从前谋害我们、要灭我们、使我们不得再住以色列境内的人，现在愿将他的子孙七人交给我们，我们好在耶和华面前，将他们悬挂在耶和华拣选扫罗的基比亚。”王说：“我必交给你们。”

大卫早晨起来，耶和华的话临到先知迦得，就是大卫的先见，说：“你去告诉大卫，说耶和华如此说：‘我有三样灾，随你选择一样，我好降与你。’”于是迦得来见大卫，对他说：“你愿意国中有七年的饥荒呢？是在你敌人面前逃跑，被追赶三个月呢？是在你国中有三日的瘟疫呢？现在你要揣摩思想，我好回复那差我来的。”

我朝见耶和华，在至高神面前跪拜，当献上什么呢？岂可献一岁的牛犊为燔祭吗？耶和华岂喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？我岂可为自己的罪过献我的长子吗？为心中的罪恶献我身所生的吗？

非利士人将祭司和占卜的聚了来，问他们说：“我们向耶和华的约柜应当怎样行？请指示我们用何法将约柜送回原处。”他们说：“若要将以色列神的约柜送回去，不可空空地送去，必要给他献赔罪的礼物，然后你们可得痊愈，并知道他的手为何不离开你们。”
