海浪越来越汹涌，他们就问他说：“我们当向你做什么，才能使海浪平静呢？”

他们又对他说：“我们该对你怎么做，才能使海为我们平静下来呢？”因为海浪越来越汹涌了。

他們就問他說：『我們應該怎樣處置你，使海平靜下來、而不沖撞我們？』這是因為海越來越翻騰着。

他們又問他：「我們該對你怎麼做，才能使海為我們平靜下來呢？」因為海浪越來越洶湧了。

又謂之曰、我當何以待爾、使海為我而恬靜乎、因海久而愈盪、

又曰、今海震盪愈甚、當若何待爾、則風浪可息。

又曰、今海之波濤洶湧已甚、當若何待爾、使海恬靜乎、

The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him,“ What should we do to you to stop this storm?”

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will calm down for us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will become calm for us?”— for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”— for the sea was growing more tempestuous.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you to calm this sea that’s against us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

Because the storm was growing worse and worse, they said to him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may be calm to us?” For the sea grew more and more stormy.

在大卫执政期间，连续有三年饥荒，大卫就求问耶和华。耶和华说：“发生这饥荒是因为扫罗一家人的血债，他们杀害了基遍人。”原来基遍人不是以色列人，他们是亚摩利人的遗民。以色列人曾起誓不伤害他们，但扫罗为以色列人和犹大人发热心，试图铲除基遍人。大卫就召来基遍人，问他们：“我可以为你们做些什么来赎罪，使你们愿意祝福耶和华的子民呢？”基遍人答道：“金银不能解决我们和扫罗一家人的问题，我们也不想处死任何以色列人。”大卫说：“你们要我怎么办？”他们说：“扫罗曾试图灭绝我们，把我们从以色列境内铲除。请你把扫罗的七个子孙交给我们。耶和华选立了扫罗，我们就在耶和华面前把他们吊死在扫罗的家乡基比亚城。”王说：“我必把他们交给你们。”

第二天早上，耶和华对大卫的先见——迦得先知说：“你去告诉大卫，耶和华说，‘我有三样灾祸，你可以选择让我降哪一样给你。’”迦得就来见大卫，对他说：“你愿意国内有七年饥荒呢？还是被敌人追杀三个月呢？还是国内发生三天瘟疫呢？请你考虑好后告诉我，我好回复那差我来的。”

我要拿什么朝见耶和华，在天上的上帝面前叩拜呢？要献上一岁的牛犊作燔祭吗？耶和华会喜爱成千的公羊和万条油河吗？我要因过犯而献上自己的长子，因心中的罪恶而献上亲生的骨肉吗？

非利士人叫来他们的祭司和占卜者，问道：“我们该怎样处理耶和华的约柜呢？请告诉我们怎样把它送回原处？”他们答道：“你们若把以色列上帝的约柜送回去，不可空手送去，一定要向他献上赔罪的礼物，这样你们就可以得到医治，也可以知道他为什么惩罚你们。”
