Before them fire devours, behind them a flame blazes. Before them the land is like the garden of Eden, behind them, a desert waste— nothing escapes them.

Like fire they eat up everything in their path. Behind them it looks as if flames have burned the land. In front of them the land is like the Garden of Eden. Behind them it is a dry and empty desert. Nothing escapes them.

我必以旋風吹散他們到素不認識的萬國中。這樣，他們的地就荒涼，甚至無人來往經過，因為他們使美好之地荒涼了。」

耶和華啊，我向你求告，因為火燒滅曠野的草場；火焰燒盡田野的樹木。田野的走獸向你發喘；因為溪水乾涸，火也燒滅曠野的草場。

因為這蝗蟲遮滿地面，甚至地都黑暗了，又吃地上一切的菜蔬和冰雹所剩樹上的果子。埃及遍地，無論是樹木，是田間的菜蔬，連一點青的也沒有留下。

遮滿地面，甚至看不見地，並且吃那冰雹所剩的和田間所長的一切樹木。

我們的神要來，決不閉口。有烈火在他面前吞滅；有暴風在他四圍大颳。

神園中的香柏樹不能遮蔽它；松樹不及它的枝子；楓樹不及它的枝條；神園中的樹都沒有它榮美。我使它的枝條蕃多，成為榮美，以致神伊甸園中的樹都嫉妒它。」

羅得舉目看見約旦河的全平原，直到瑣珥，都是滋潤的，那地在耶和華未滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以先如同耶和華的園子，也像埃及地。

他說一聲，就有蝗蟲螞蚱上來，不計其數，吃盡了他們地上各樣的菜蔬和田地的出產。

他們必吃盡你的莊稼和你的糧食，是你兒女該吃的；必吃盡你的牛羊，吃盡你的葡萄和無花果；又必用刀毀壞你所倚靠的堅固城。

剪蟲剩下的，蝗蟲來吃；蝗蟲剩下的，蝻子來吃；蝻子剩下的，螞蚱來吃。酒醉的人哪，要清醒哭泣；好酒的人哪，都要為甜酒哀號，因為從你們的口中斷絕了。有一隊蝗蟲又強盛又無數，侵犯我的地；牠的牙齒如獅子的牙齒，大牙如母獅的大牙。牠毀壞我的葡萄樹，剝了我無花果樹的皮，剝盡而丟棄，使枝條露白。

主耶和華又指示我一件事：他命火來懲罰以色列，火就吞滅深淵，險些將地燒滅。
