蝗虫遮盖了整个地面，以致大地都变黑了。它们吃尽了地上一切蔬菜，和树上所有的果子，就是受冰雹击打后留下来的。这样，在埃及全地，无论是树木，或田间的蔬菜，连一点青的也没有留下。

蝗虫必遮盖地面，甚至人不能看见地；蝗虫必吃尽那避过灾难余剩的，那没有受冰雹击打，剩下留给你们的；它们也必吃尽田间给你们生长起来的一切树木。

我们的神来临，决不缄默无声；在他面前有火燃烧，在他四周有暴风刮起。

神园中的香柏树不能与它相比，松树比不上它的枝子；枫树也不及它的枝条；神园中所有的树木都比不上它的秀美。我使它因枝条繁多而显得秀美，以致在神的园中，伊甸所有的树木都嫉妒它。

罗得举目，看见约旦河整个平原，直到琐珥，都有水灌溉；在耶和华毁灭所多玛和蛾摩拉之前，这地好像耶和华的园子，也像埃及地一样。

他一发命令，蝗虫就来，蚱蜢也来，多得无法数算，吃尽了他们地上的一切植物，吃光了他们土地的出产。

他们必吞灭你们的庄稼和粮食，吞灭你的儿女，你们的羊群牛群，以及你们的葡萄和无花果；他们也必用刀剑毁坏你们所倚仗的坚固城。

剪虫剩下的，蝗虫吃了；蝗虫剩下的，蝻子吃了；蝻子剩下的，蚂蚱吃了。酒醉的人哪！你们要醒过来；要哀哭！所有嗜酒的人哪！你们都要为甜酒哀号，因为甜酒从你们的口里断绝了。因为有一民族上来侵犯我的国土，他们强大又无数；他们的牙齿像狮子的牙齿，他们有母狮的大牙。他们使我的葡萄树荒凉，折断了我的无花果树，把树皮剥尽，丢在一旁，使枝条露白。

主耶和华向我这样显示：看哪！主耶和华召来刑罚的火，烧毁广大的深渊和以色列的地业。
