猶大眾人和他們的孩童、妻子、兒女都站在耶和華面前。

他說：「為平安來的，我來是要向耶和華獻祭。你們要使自己分別為聖，來跟我一同獻祭。」撒母耳把耶西和他眾兒子分別為聖，請他們來一同獻祭。

耶和華對摩西說：「你往百姓那裏去，使他們今天明天分別為聖，又叫他們洗衣服。

宴席的日子過了，約伯派人去叫他們自潔。他清早起來，按着他們眾人的數目獻燔祭，因為他說：「恐怕我的兒子犯了罪，心中背棄上帝。」約伯常常這樣行。

他對百姓說：「第三天要預備好；不可親近女人。」

會眾中有許多人尚未分別為聖，所以利未人為所有不潔的人宰逾越節的羔羊，使他們歸耶和華為聖。

那日，在耶路撒冷必有大大的哀號，如米吉多平原上哈達‧臨門的哀號。這地必哀哭：一家一家地哭，大衛家的家族聚在一處，他們的婦女聚在一處；拿單家的家族聚在一處，他們的婦女聚在一處。利未家的家族聚在一處，他們的婦女聚在一處；示每家的家族聚在一處，他們的婦女聚在一處。其餘的各家，每一家的家族聚在一處，他們的婦女聚在一處。」

你起來，去叫百姓分別為聖，說：『你們要為了明天使自己分別為聖，因為耶和華－以色列的上帝這樣說：以色列啊，在你中間有當滅的物；你們若不把你們中間當滅之物除掉，你在仇敵面前必站立不住！』

太陽如同新郎步出洞房，又如勇士歡然奔路。

你們要使禁食的日子分別為聖，宣告嚴肅會，召集長老和這地所有的居民來到耶和華－你們上帝的殿，向耶和華哀求。

他叫人通告尼尼微全城，說：「王和大臣有令，人、畜、牛、羊都不可嘗任何東西，不可吃，也不可喝水。人與牲畜都要披上麻布，切切求告上帝。各人要回轉離開惡道，離棄自己掌中的殘暴。

耶穌對他們說：「新郎和賓客在一起的時候，賓客怎麼能哀慟呢？但日子將到，新郎要被帶走，那時候他們就要禁食了。

「今日你們全都要站在耶和華－你們的上帝面前，就是各領袖、族長、長老、官長、以色列所有的男子、你們的妻子兒女、你營中寄居的，從為你砍柴到為你挑水的人，

要宰逾越節的羔羊，將自己分別為聖，為你們的弟兄預備，好遵守耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的話。」

那凡專心尋求上帝耶和華－他列祖的上帝，卻未照聖所潔淨禮自潔的人。」

他們把那些作贖罪祭的公山羊牽到王和會眾面前，按手在公山羊上。祭司宰了羊，將血獻在壇上作贖罪祭，為全以色列贖罪，因為王吩咐要為全以色列獻上燔祭和贖罪祭。
