Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.

猶大人與他們的妻子、兒女和嬰孩都站在耶和華面前。

夫妻不可虧負彼此的需要，除非雙方同意，才可以暫時分房，以便專心祈禱。以後，二人仍要恢復正常的夫妻生活，免得撒旦趁你們情不自禁的時候引誘你們。

對他們說：「利未人啊，請聽我說！現在你們要潔淨自己，也要潔淨你們祖先的上帝耶和華的殿，除去聖所中的污穢之物。

吩咐到我面前來的祭司要潔淨自己，免得我忽然出來擊殺他們。」

撒母耳答道：「是的，為平安而來，我是來向耶和華獻祭的。你們要潔淨自己，然後來和我一起獻祭。」撒母耳為耶西及其眾子行過潔淨禮後，便邀請他們參加獻祭。

耶和華對摩西說：「你現在回到他們那裡，吩咐他們今天和明天要潔淨自己，洗淨衣服，

宴會的日子結束後，約伯便派人召來他的兒女，為他們行潔淨禮。他清早起來，為他們每個人獻上燔祭，因為他想：「也許我的孩子們犯了罪，心中褻瀆了上帝。」約伯常常這樣做。

又吩咐他們說：「到後天一切都要準備好，這期間你們不可親近女人。」

因為會眾中間有許多人沒有潔淨自己，利未人就為所有不潔之人宰逾越節的羊羔獻給耶和華。

到那天，耶路撒冷必一片哀聲，猶如米吉多平原的哈達臨門的哀聲。境內家家戶戶都必哀哭。大衛家的男子在一處，女子在一處；拿單家的男子在一處，女子在一處；利未家的男子在一處，女子在一處；示每家的男子在一處，女子在一處。其餘各家也都哀哭，男女分開。

起來吧！去吩咐民眾潔淨自己，讓他們為明天潔淨自己，因為以色列的上帝耶和華這樣說，『以色列啊！你們中間有本該毀滅的東西，你們不除掉這些東西就無法抵擋敵人。

太陽出來時，如步出洞房的新郎，又如歡然奔跑賽程的健兒。

你們要定一個禁食的日子，舉行莊嚴的聚會，召集全國的長老和人民，到你們的上帝耶和華的殿中，向耶和華呼求。

王又向全城頒佈命令，說：「王和大臣有令，所有的人都必須禁食，牛羊牲畜都不許吃草也不許喝水。人和牲畜都必須披上麻衣，眾人要向上帝懇切呼求，改邪歸正，停止作惡。

耶穌對他們說：「新郎和賓客還在一起的時候，賓客怎能悲傷呢？但有一天新郎將被帶走，那時他們就要禁食了。

「今天，你們全都站在你們的上帝耶和華面前，包括你們的族長、長老、官員、所有以色列男子、你們的孩子、妻子和寄居在你們中間為你們砍柴挑水的外族人，

你們要宰殺逾越節的羊羔，潔淨自己，為你們的弟兄做好準備，依照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的去行。」

有人把作贖罪祭的公山羊牽到王和會眾面前，他們就將手按在公山羊身上。祭司宰了公山羊，把血灑在壇上作贖罪祭，為所有以色列人贖罪，因為王吩咐要為所有以色列人獻上燔祭和贖罪祭。
