委而棄之、爾當哀哭、若女未笄而字人、夫沒、身衣衰絰、

我民、爾當哀哭、若少女幼年嫁夫、夫沒、腰間繫麻、為夫哀哭、或作我民爾當哀哭如貞女腰間繫麻哀哭幼年所嫁之夫

Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth grieving for the betrothed of her youth.

My people, mourn like a virgin who is dressed in the clothes of sadness. She is sad because she has lost the young man she was going to marry.

Lament like a virgin wearing sackcloth for the bridegroom of her youth.

Weep like a bride dressed in black, mourning the death of her husband.

Grieve like a young woman dressed in sackcloth, mourning for the husband of her youth.

Wail like a virgin clothed with sackcloth For the groom of her youth.

Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth For the husband of her youth.

Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

Grieve like a young woman dressed in sackcloth, mourning for the husband of her youth.

Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

Wail like a young virgin clothed in sackcloth, lamenting the death of her husband-to-be.

In that day, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, called to weeping, to mourning, to baldness, and to dressing in sackcloth;

Yahweh of Armies says,“ Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come.Let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion,‘ How we are ruined! We are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.’”

The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry- hearted sigh.The mirth of tambourines ceases. The sound of those who rejoice ends. The joy of the harp ceases.They will not drink wine with a song. Strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it.The confused city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the land is gone.The city is left in desolation, and the gate is struck with destruction.

Put on sackcloth and mourn, you priests! Wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my God, for the meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from your God’s house.Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh.Alas for the day! For the day of Yahweh is at hand, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.

who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God;

Will you not from this time cry to me,‘ My Father, you are the guide of my youth?’

Did he not make you one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? Why one? He sought godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double- minded.Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.

I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.

Tremble, you women who are at ease! Be troubled, you careless ones! Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked, and put sackcloth on your waist.

“ Yet even now,” says Yahweh,“ turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.”Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God.
