蝗蟲遮滿了地面，弄得那地都暗黑了。牠們又喫了地上各樣的菜蔬，和樹上一切的果子、就是冰雹所留下來的：以致埃及遍地、無論是樹木、是田間的菜蔬、連一點青的也沒有留下。

我必毁壞她的葡萄樹和無花果樹，就是她說：「這是我的淫資、我的愛人給我的。」我必使這些果樹變為荒林，田野走獸必喫其果子。

就使無花果樹不結果子，葡萄樹上無出產，橄欖樹的農作物令人失望，田地又不出糧食，羊從羊圈中被剪除，牛棚內也沒有牛，

永恆主發神諭說：我必徹底收拾他們；葡萄樹上都沒有葡萄；無花果樹上都沒有無花果；葉子全都凋殘；我賜給他們的都離開他們而過去了。』
