The locusts are like a mighty army that has marched into our land. There are so many of them they can’t even be counted. Their teeth are as sharp as a lion’s teeth. They are like the fangs of a female lion.

All of their faces turn pale with fright.They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. Each one proceeds on his course; they do not alter their path.They do not jostle one another; each of them marches straight ahead. They burst through the city defenses and do not break ranks.They rush into the city; they scale its walls. They climb up into the houses; they go in through the windows like a thief.The earth quakes before them; the sky reverberates. The sun and the moon grow dark; the stars refuse to shine.The voice of the LORD thunders as he leads his army. Indeed, his warriors are innumerable; Surely his command is carried out! Yes, the day of the LORD is awesome and very terrifying– who can survive it?

Now the locusts looked like horses equipped for battle. On their heads were something like crowns similar to gold, and their faces looked like men’s faces.They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.They had breastplates like iron breastplates, and the sound of their wings was like the noise of many horse- drawn chariots charging into battle.They have tails and stingers like scorpions, and their ability to injure people for five months is in their tails.

It will spill into Judah, flooding and engulfing, as it reaches to the necks of its victims. He will spread his wings out over your entire land, O Immanuel.”

Mourn over the land of my people, which is overgrown with thorns and briers, and over all the once- happy houses in the city filled with revelry.

There is a generation whose teeth are like swords and whose molars are like knives to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among the human race.

ants are creatures with little strength, but they prepare their food in the summer;rock badgers are creatures with little power, but they make their homes in the crags;locusts have no king, but they all go forward by ranks;

They will not remain in the LORD’s land. Ephraim will return to Egypt; they will eat ritually unclean food in Assyria.
