於是約沙法害怕起來，定意要尋求耶和華，就在猶大全地宣告禁食。於是猶大人集合起來，尋求耶和華的幫助；猶大各城中都有人出來尋求耶和華。

這七天你們每天都要獻火祭給耶和華；第八天應當有聖會，要獻火祭給耶和華，這是集會的日子，甚麼勞碌的工都不可作。

那時全猶大的人，連他們的嬰孩、妻子和兒女，都站在耶和華面前。

從頭一天直到最後一天，每天都宣讀神的律法書。他們守節七天，第八天照典章有嚴肅會。

以色列的後裔跟所有外族人分離，然後站立，承認自己的罪過和他們列祖的罪孽。那天四分之一的時間，他們站在自己的地方，宣讀耶和華他們的神的律法書；另外四分之一的時間，他們認罪和敬拜耶和華他們的神。

“今日你們全都站在耶和華你們的神面前；你們的首領、族長、長老、官長和以色列所有的男子，你們的小孩、妻子和在你營中的寄居者，以及為你們劈柴挑水的人，都站在耶和華你們的神面前，
