酒醉的人哪！你們要醒過來；要哀哭！所有嗜酒的人哪！你們都要為甜酒哀號，因為甜酒從你們的口裡斷絕了。

打穀場和榨酒池不能餵養他們，新酒也必使他們失望。

你們的氣力徒然用盡；你們的地不出產，境內的樹也不結果實。

“猶大悲哀，她的城鎮（“城鎮”原文作“城門”）衰落，人人都坐在地上悲傷痛哭；耶路撒冷的哀聲上達於天。他們的顯貴差派童僕去打水；童僕來到池邊，卻找不到水，就拿著空的器皿回來；他們失望難過，蒙著自己的頭。土地乾裂，因為地上沒有雨水；農夫失望，都蒙著自己的頭。甚至母鹿在田野生產了小鹿，也得把牠丟棄，因為沒有青草。野驢站在光禿的高岡上，像野狗喘著氣；牠們雙目發呆，因為沒有青草。”

穀種在土塊底下朽爛，倉庫荒涼，穀倉破爛被拆毀，因為五穀都枯乾了。牲畜發出哀鳴，牛群到處流蕩，因為沒有草場給牠們，羊群也同樣受苦。耶和華啊！我向你呼求，因為火吞滅了曠野的草場，火燄燒盡了田間所有的樹木。田野的走獸也向你發喘，因為溪水都乾涸了，火吞滅了曠野的草場。

摩押肥沃的土地上不再有歡喜和快樂；我使榨酒池不再流出酒；再沒有人歡呼踹酒；有人呼喊，卻不是踹酒的歡呼聲。

有人在街上因無酒呼喊；一切喜樂都已過去，地上的喜樂都消逝了。

這地悲哀，田野的青草都枯乾，要等到幾時呢？由於這地居民的惡行，走獸和飛鳥都滅絕了；因為他們說：“神看不見我們的結局。”

葡萄樹枯乾，無花果樹衰殘；石榴樹、棕樹、蘋果樹，田野所有的樹木都枯乾，因此歡樂從人間消失了。

我叫乾旱臨到大地、群山、五穀、新酒、新油、地上的出產、人畜和人手勞碌得來的一切。”

大地必完全倒空，被劫掠淨盡，這話是耶和華說的。大地悲哀衰殘，世界零落衰殘，地上居高位的人也衰敗了。
