He speaks to the sun and it does not shine; he seals off the light of the stars.

When he tells the sun not to shine, it doesn’t. He turns off the light of the stars.

If he commands it, the sun won’t rise and the stars won’t shine.

For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine.

And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.

And when I shall extinguish thee, I will cover the heavens, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And as for darkness, where is the place thereof,That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, And that thou shouldest discern the paths to the house thereof?

But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

and all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

He sealeth up the hand of every man, That all men whom he hath made may know it.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days began, And caused the dayspring to know its place;That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?It is changed as clay under the seal; And all things stand forth as a garment:And from the wicked their light is withholden, And the high arm is broken.

For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought; that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the Earth— Jehovah, the God of hosts, is his name.

Then spake Joshua to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; And thou, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon.
