“ He is not a mere mortal like me that I might answer him, that we might confront each other in court.

“ God isn’t a mere human being like me. I can’t answer him. We can’t take each other to court.

For he is not a man, as I am, that I might answer him, that we should come to trial together.

“ God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial.

“ God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, That I might come to His seat!I would present my case before Him, And fill my mouth with arguments.I would know the words which He would answer me, And understand what He would say to me.Would He contend with me in His great power? No! But He would take note of me.There the upright could reason with Him, And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.

“ Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the floodplain of the Jordan Against the dwelling place of the strong; But I will suddenly make him run away from her. And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her? For who is like Me? Who will arraign Me? And who is that shepherd Who will withstand Me?”

“ Look, in this you are not righteous. I will answer you, For God is greater than man.

See now, I have prepared my case, I know that I shall be vindicated.Who is he who will contend with me? If now I hold my tongue, I perish.“ Only two things do not do to me, Then I will not hide myself from You:Withdraw Your hand far from me, And let not the dread of You make me afraid.Then call, and I will answer; Or let me speak, then You respond to me.How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin.

For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

“ Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it,‘ What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say,‘ He has no hands’?

Look to the heavens and see; And behold the clouds— They are higher than you.If you sin, what do you accomplish against Him? Or, if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to Him?If you are righteous, what do you give Him? Or what does He receive from your hand?

But the Lord said to Samuel,“ Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
