“ How long will you speak these things, seeing that the words of your mouth are like a great wind?

Do you think your words are convincing when you disregard my cry of desperation?

“ A wise man wouldn’t answer with such empty talk! You are nothing but a windbag.

“ Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

I wish he would crush me. I wish he would reach out his hand and kill me.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said,“ This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go, so they can worship me.

“ I cannot keep from speaking. I must express my anguish. My bitter soul must complain.

Pharaoh’s officials now came to Pharaoh and appealed to him.“ How long will you let this man hold us hostage? Let the men go to worship the Lord their God! Don’t you realize that Egypt lies in ruins?”

“ Shouldn’t someone answer this torrent of words? Is a person proved innocent just by a lot of talking?Should I remain silent while you babble on? When you mock God, shouldn’t someone make you ashamed?

“ How long will you torture me? How long will you try to crush me with your words?You have already insulted me ten times. You should be ashamed of treating me so badly.

“ How long before you stop talking? Speak sense if you want us to answer!
