When a cloud disappears, it’s gone forever. And anyone who goes down to the grave never returns.

As the cloud fades and vanishes, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up;

“ Only a few years will pass before I take the path of no return.

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.As the water of a lake dries up or a riverbed becomes parched and dry,so he lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, people will not awake or be roused from their sleep.“ If only you would hide me in the grave and conceal me till your anger has passed! If only you would set me a time and then remember me!If someone dies, will they live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait for my renewal to come.

before I go to the place of no return, to the land of gloom and utter darkness,

Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But that is not what God desires; rather, he devises ways so that a banished person does not remain banished from him.

He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through them.

I said,“ I will not again see the Lord himself in the land of the living; no longer will I look on my fellow man, or be with those who now dwell in this world.

They are higher than the heavens above— what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below— what can you know?

Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again before I depart and am no more.”
