As a cloud is dispersed and then disappears, so the one who goes down to the grave does not come up again.

As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so one who goes down to the grave does not return.

When a cloud disappears, it’s gone forever. And anyone who goes down to the grave never returns.

As the cloud fades and vanishes, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up;

Just as a cloud dissipates and vanishes, those who die will not come back.

Terrors are turned loose on me; they drive away my honor like the wind, and like a cloud my deliverance has passed away.

For the years that lie ahead are few, and then I will go on the way of no return.

But man dies and is powerless; he expires– and where is he?As water disappears from the sea, or a river drains away and dries up,so man lies down and does not rise; until the heavens are no more, they will not awake nor arise from their sleep.“ O that you would hide me in Sheol, and conceal me till your anger has passed! O that you would set me a time and then remember me!If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait until my release comes.

before I depart, never to return, to the land of darkness and the deepest shadow,

Certainly we must die, and are like water spilled on the ground that cannot be gathered up again. But God does not take away life; instead he devises ways for the banished to be restored.

He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through the clouds.

“ I thought,‘ I will no longer see the LORD in the land of the living, I will no longer look on humankind with the inhabitants of the world.

It is higher than the heavens– what can you do? It is deeper than Sheol– what can you know?

Turn your angry gaze away from me, so I can be happy before I pass away.
