When a cloud vanishes, it is gone; In the same way one who goes down to Sheol does not come up.

As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so one who goes down to the grave does not return.

When a cloud disappears, it’s gone forever. And anyone who goes down to the grave never returns.

As the cloud fades and vanishes, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up;

Just as a cloud dissipates and vanishes, those who die will not come back.

As a cloud fades away and vanishes, so the one who goes down to Sheol will never rise again.

As the cloud disappears and vanishes away, So he who goes down to the grave does not come up.

Sudden terrors are turned upon me; They chase away my dignity like the wind, And my prosperity has passed away like a cloud.

For when a few years are past, I shall go the way of no return.

But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?As water evaporates from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dried up,So a man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens no longer exist, He will not awake nor be woken from his sleep.“ Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me!If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my relief comes.

Before I go— and I shall not return— To the land of darkness and deep shadow,

For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up. Yet God does not take away life, but makes plans so that the banished one will not be cast out from Him.

He also loads the clouds with moisture; He disperses the cloud of His lightning.

I said,“ I will not see the Lord, The Lord in the land of the living; I will no longer look on mankind among the inhabitants of the world.

They are as high as the heavens; what can you do? Deeper than Sheol; what can you know?

Turn Your eyes away from me, that I may become cheerful again Before I depart and am no more.”
