As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so one who goes down to the grave does not return.

When a cloud disappears, it’s gone forever. And anyone who goes down to the grave never returns.

As the cloud fades and vanishes, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up;

Just as a cloud dissipates and vanishes, those who die will not come back.

驚駭臨到我的身上，驅逐我的尊嚴如風吹一般，我的好景像雲一樣過去。

因為我的年數將盡，我快要走上那條一去不返的路。”

人死了，就化為烏有；人一氣絕就不在了。海洋中的水消失，江河枯竭乾涸，人也是這樣一躺下去，就不再起來，直到天都沒有了還不醒過來，也不能從睡眠中被喚醒。但願你把我藏在陰間，把我隱藏，直到你的怒氣過去；願你為我定一個期限，好記念我。人若死了，怎能再活呢？我要在我一切勞苦的日子等待，等到我得釋放的時候來到。

在去而不返之前，可以喜樂片刻；

我們都是必死的，像水潑在地上不能收回來一樣；但神並不取去人的命，反而設法使逃亡的人不致永遠離開他逃亡。

他使密雲滿載水氣，雲彩布散他的電光。

我曾說：在活人之地，我必不得見耶和華；在世間的居民中，我必不再見到任何人。

他的智慧高於諸天，你能作甚麼呢？比陰間還深，你怎能識透？

求你不要怒視我，使我在去而不返之先，可以喜樂。”
